Born in 1207 in Balkh (modern‑day Afghanistan), Rumi’s early life was shaped by exile, loss, and intellectual brilliance. By his mid‑twenties, he was a renowned jurist teaching thousands of students in Konya—respected, accomplished, and inwardly restless.
Everything changed in November 1244, when Rumi met the wandering dervish Shams‑i Tabrizi.
